Igli Tare has declared that accepting the position of Milan’s Sporting Director was “one of the happiest days of my life.” He also emphasized that he maintains a refreshingly honest and direct relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimović.
The former Albanian striker spent the majority of his career in Serie A with Lazio, initially as a player and later transitioning into a directorial role, before taking up his current post at Milan this season.
In an upcoming interview with DAZN Italia, conducted by Giorgia Rossi and set to be broadcast from Friday, Tare shared some preliminary insights. He described the moment he finalized his agreement with Milan as a truly exceptional day in his life.
Tare also addressed the widely discussed, sometimes perceived as contentious, dynamic with club special advisor Ibrahimović.
“We are both from the Balkans; we tend to speak directly and openly to people,” Tare stated, illustrating their straightforward communication style.
Under Max Allegri’s guidance, the team appears to be on a strong trajectory to secure Champions League qualification, marking a substantial improvement from their absence from all European competitions last season.
“To truly be worthy of Milan, we must return to winning ways. You have to make a lasting impact here,” Tare asserted, underscoring the high expectations at the club.
Furthermore, the director expressed his confidence in Rafael Leão’s ability to consistently perform at a high level, despite past inconsistencies.
“He possesses incredible potential. As Luka Modric has noted, even Leão himself may not fully grasp the extent of his capabilities,” Tare commented, drawing a parallel to another prodigious talent.
