Paulo Dybala’s mother-in-law has shed light on a significant promise the footballer made, which could potentially lead him to Boca Juniors this summer. Despite this, she stated that Roma would still be his ‘first choice’ for continuing his career.
With Paulo Dybala set to become a free agent on July 1st if AS Roma does not extend his contract, an agreement appears increasingly unlikely. This situation has fueled speculation in Argentina, with many anticipating his next move will be to Boca Juniors.
Catherine Fulop, Dybala’s mother-in-law, has offered additional insights into why a move to Boca Juniors might be a logical step for the player.
Dybala’s Father’s Boca Juniors Dream
Fulop shared, “He loves Roma, he loves the team, and I also think Roma love him very much too. That would be his first choice, staying there.” She continued, “Paulo made a promise to his father that one day he would wear the Boca Juniors jersey; that would be a dream instilled in him by his Dad, and he wants to fulfil that dream.”
The recent birth of Dybala and his wife Oriana’s daughter, Gia, could also serve as a strong motivator for a return to Argentina, allowing them to be closer to family. Fulop expressed her happiness about the prospect, saying, “I’m happy if they are coming to Buenos Aires, of course.”
However, a potential complication arises from the fact that Fulop’s husband and Oriana’s father, Ova, is a fervent supporter of Boca Juniors’ fierce rivals, River Plate. Fulop acknowledged this dilemma, stating, “Yes, that’s bad. Ova doesn’t miss a single River match…”
Now 32 years old, Dybala left Argentina at a young age, joining Palermo in 2012 before moving to Juventus in 2015 and then AS Roma on a free transfer in 2022. The only club he represented in his home country before his overseas career was Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba.
