Fiorentina has announced that striker Moise Kean will be unavailable for their crucial Serie A encounter against Roma on Monday. The club confirmed his absence is due to a family matter, which unfortunately leaves them without any available strikers for the match.
The game is scheduled to take place at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday, May 4th, with a 19:45 UK time (20:45 CEST) kick-off. Fiorentina has not yet mathematically secured their place in Serie A for the next season, and this match is significant as they face an ongoing injury crisis in their attacking lineup.
Fiorentina Faces Striker Shortage Amidst Kean’s Absence
Adding to their woes, Kean’s participation was already uncertain due to a recurring fibula problem that has hampered him for several months. However, the club’s official statement on May 1st confirmed his temporary departure from May 1st to May 4th to attend to a family issue. He is expected to return to Florence and the Viola Park training facility on the morning of May 5th to continue his rehabilitation.
The situation is compounded by other attacking injuries. Roberto Piccoli is a major doubt after sustaining an adductor strain during the recent game against Sassuolo. Furthermore, Robin Gosens and Fabiano Parisi are only participating in training sessions on a limited basis. Niccolò Fortini and the long-term absentee Tariq Lamptey are also expected to miss the fixture.
Given these circumstances, Fiorentina may be forced to deploy Albert Gudmundsson in a ‘False 9’ role to lead their attack against Roma.
