Alessandro Bastoni has decided not to speak with investigators involved in a probe concerning an escort service and potential underage prostitution. In contrast, Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori is expected to be interviewed tomorrow.
The investigation is focused on a company that organized “all-inclusive” events in the Milan area, which included entertainment, dining, and at times, escort services.
Bastoni Faces Formal Investigation
While the company’s activities are not inherently illegal, Inter defender Bastoni has been formally placed under investigation. This stems from allegations that a girl with whom he allegedly had relations was under the age of 18 at the time, specifically 17 years and eight months old in 2020, when Bastoni was 21.
Both Bastoni and the girl in question have reportedly denied any involvement, particularly any transactions involving money.
Bastoni was initially scheduled to meet with prosecutors in Milan tomorrow. However, his lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, has confirmed to the ANSA news agency that Bastoni will not be attending this interview. This action is within his legal rights, functioning similarly to “Pleading the Fifth” in the American legal system.
Meanwhile, other players have been called to provide testimony as witnesses and are not currently under formal investigation.
Lazio midfielder Daniel Maldini and former Bologna defender Kevin Bonifazi were interviewed today. It is also reported that Arsenal defender Calafiori is scheduled for his interview on Friday.
