Scott McTominay Honored on Limited Edition Bank of Scotland Banknote

Scott McTominay, the midfielder for Napoli, will be featured on a special, limited-edition £20 bank note. The Bank of Scotland has introduced a unique design commemorating McTominay’s memorable overhead kick goal for Scotland against Denmark. This goal was instrumental in securing Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup, marking their first appearance in 28 years.

The bank note celebrates Scotland’s thrilling 4-2 victory at Hampden Park last November, which paved the way for their entry into the 2026 World Cup. This achievement is the first for the nation since the 1998 World Cup in France. McTominay’s spectacular, acrobatic finish from that evening has already secured its place in Scottish football history and is now permanently recognized in banknote form.

McTominay Expresses Pride as Banknote Raises Funds for Homeless Charity

McTominay was visibly touched by this special tribute.

“Moments like that belong to everyone who follows the team, so seeing my goal featured on a Scottish banknote feels incredibly special,” he stated. “Being able to collaborate with Bank of Scotland to transform it into something that also supports Crisis and their efforts to combat homelessness makes me even prouder.”

Emma Noble, Chair of Bank of Scotland’s Scottish executive committee, shared similar enthusiasm. “Scott’s overhead kick is already considered one of the nation’s all-time greatest goals,” she remarked. “It has been a privilege to work with him to bring it to life in such a unique way.”

Only 100 of these special bank notes have been produced. Fifty will be made available to the public through collector auctions and a prize draw, both concluding on June 26. All proceeds from these initiatives will benefit Crisis Scotland, a charity dedicated to addressing homelessness.
