Como Celebrates Historic Champions League Qualification with Open-Top Bus Parade

Como, under the guidance of coach Cesc Fabregas, is currently enjoying a triumphant open-top bus parade winding through the city’s streets. This joyous celebration marks their unprecedented qualification for the Champions League.

The team secured their place in Europe’s elite club competition on the final matchday of the season. Entering the last round, Como was level on points with Juventus in sixth place, trailing Milan and Roma by two points. However, a decisive 4-1 away victory against Cremonese, coupled with Milan’s surprising 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari, saw Como leapfrog their rivals to claim fourth position.

A Monumental Achievement for Como

This accomplishment is particularly significant as Como was playing in Serie B just two seasons ago and had never before qualified for European football, let alone the prestigious Champions League.

The squad embarked on their celebratory bus parade from the Stadio Sinigaglia, waving to enthusiastic crowds. Video clips of the jubilant event have been shared across the club’s social media channels.

This season has been one of multiple historic milestones for the club. Como also reached the Coppa Italia semi-final for the first time in their history, though they were ultimately defeated by the eventual champions, Inter.

In the league, Como recorded an impressive 20 wins, 11 draws, and 7 losses, scoring 65 goals while conceding only 29. Their attacking prowess was second only to league champions Inter, who found the net 89 times.

Next season, Como will compete in the biggest club competition in world football, and their passionate fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of football’s biggest stars at the Stadio Sinigaglia.
