Nico Paz’s choice to remain with Como until 2026-27 has reportedly caused consternation at Real Madrid. The Spanish club still hopes to bring the Argentine back to the Bernabéu, but the Serie A side would need to pay a substantial €60 million if they wish to secure him permanently.
Reports indicate that Real Madrid are displeased with Nico Paz’s decision to extend his stay at Como for the 2026-27 season.
Nico Paz’s Transfer Decision Causes Uproar at Real Madrid
Earlier this week, Spanish outlet AS.com reported that Paz opted to stay at the Stadio Sinigaglia for another year. This decision is attributed to Real Madrid’s acquisition of several experienced players, including Bernardo Silva, which is expected to intensify competition for attacking positions next season.
While Italian sources like Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano had been more reserved, suggesting Como was confident of retaining Paz, they also indicated that discussions were ongoing between the Serie A club and Real Madrid to finalize the most suitable transfer arrangement.
Nico Paz is currently a Como player, having completed a permanent transfer from Real Madrid two years prior.
However, Real Madrid possesses an option to buy him back before 2027.
If they were to re-sign him this summer, the cost would be €10 million, with the fee rising to €11 million for the following campaign.
Corriere dello Sport further reports that Como would be entitled to 50% of any future sell-on fee if Paz remains with the club beyond the summer.
The Italian publication claims that Real Madrid still intends to bring the Argentine back to their squad this summer by exercising their buy-back option. They have reportedly warned Como that the only way to secure Paz on a permanent basis is by meeting the €60 million valuation.
