Inter and Liverpool Moving Closer to Jones Agreement After Latest Meeting

Reports from Italy suggest that Inter Milan and Liverpool are advancing towards an agreement for English midfielder Curtis Jones. While progress is being made, some details, including the specifics of a potential sell-on clause, are still under negotiation.

Inter and Liverpool’s Stance in Curtis Jones Negotiations

Inter Milan, fresh off winning multiple titles, is actively preparing for the summer transfer window and aims to strengthen its midfield. Curtis Jones from Liverpool and Manu Kone from Roma are among the players linked with a move to the San Siro.

Jones, who has been part of Liverpool’s academy since the age of nine, has played 228 competitive matches for the first team, including 153 in the Premier League. He is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, and recent reports indicate a potential transfer in the coming months.

Inter attempted to secure a deal for Jones during the January transfer window but was unsuccessful. Current updates suggest that the Italian club has resumed negotiations for the 25-year-old, and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he is now Inter’s top priority for the midfield, even ahead of Manu Kone.

Despite Jones entering the final year of his contract, Liverpool is reportedly seeking a transfer fee between €30 million and €35 million. La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Inter is prepared to offer around €22 million, with potential bonuses that could bring the total up to €25 million.

The publication further reports that a meeting took place between representatives from Inter and Liverpool in Monte Carlo on Wednesday. While no definitive agreement was reached, there are positive indications that both parties are moving closer to a deal.

Beyond the transfer fee, the size of a resale clause for Jones is another point of discussion for Inter. The Milan club ideally wishes to minimize this clause, but Liverpool is reportedly seeking a larger percentage of the player’s future transfer fee in exchange for potentially lowering their current asking price.
