Ping Launches G740 Iron

PING unveils its new G740 iron, specifically designed for golfers seeking maximum game improvement. This innovative iron promises exceptional distance, a high launch trajectory, and enhanced forgiveness, all contributing to lower scores and greater consistency on the course.

These custom-fitted G740 irons are now available globally for pre-order and custom fittings at official PING retailers. Pricing starts at $202.50 per club with a standard steel shaft, or $217.50 per club for a graphite shaft option.

John K. Solheim, PING CEO/President, stated that the G740 iron marks a strategic re-entry into the super-game-improvement iron segment. He highlighted its visibly wider sole and larger clubhead, which make it PING's most forgiving and longest iron currently available. Solheim explained that golfers needing more game consistency will benefit from the larger face, designed to provide superior results even on off-center hits, resulting in increased ball speed and forgiveness. He assured that golfers suited for the G740 will appreciate its performance and the advantage of hitting more greens.

A core design goal for the G740 iron was to maximize ball speed, particularly for players striving for more consistent contact. This engineering focus helps generate shots that launch higher, travel greater distances, and effectively hold the green upon landing.

The G740 iron incorporates a wider, dual-camber sole, strategically placing the center of gravity (CG) low and deep. This design promotes elevated ball speeds and a higher launch angle, leading to increased distance and crucial stopping power on the greens. Utilizing an advanced heat-treatment process, the 17-4 stainless steel gains exceptional strength, enabling engineers to create a thinner, larger face for enhanced flexibility. This expanded hitting surface also helps maintain ball speed and improve accuracy on mishits. Furthermore, the PurFlex cavity badge, featuring three distinct flex zones, precisely manages face flex while refining both feel and acoustics.

Solheim emphasized that the G740 iron's rapid ball speed is a significant differentiator in its category and a cornerstone of its effectiveness.
