PGA Tour Teams Up with Zyrtec: Conquering Allergies on the Course
Seasonal allergies often pose a significant challenge for golfers, with high pollen counts making conditions as tough as the deepest rough. Many players routinely take Zyrtec to manage their symptoms before hitting the greens, and this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational champion is no exception.
Akshay Bhatia, a three-time PGA Tour winner, shared his experience, noting that intense allergy symptoms frequently strike during the most crucial weeks of his year. He emphasized his long-standing reliance on Zyrtec as part of his regimen, ensuring that even at tournaments with peak allergen levels, his performance on the course remains unaffected. Rising star Neal Shipley also serves as a player ambassador for Zyrtec.
Kenvue Inc., Zyrtec’s parent company, recently finalized a multi-year agreement to become the PGA Tour’s inaugural Official Allergy Relief Sponsor. Jenn Lovell, Commercial Head of US Allergy at Kenvue, highlighted the genuine connection, stating that the authenticity of players already experiencing allergies and using Zyrtec was a crucial factor in the partnership.
With seasonal allergies affecting one in four adults, Zyrtec has long held the top spot as the #1 doctor-recommended over-the-counter oral allergy brand. The collaboration coincides with the debut of Zyrtec’s "Yes Season" campaign, which recognizes how seasonal allergies often lead people to cancel or rethink activities they love.
Lovell further explained that spring allergies impact millions, and golf presents a unique challenge where symptoms can be particularly severe due to prolonged exposure to grass and pollen. She noted that a significant 85 percent of PGA Tour players suffer from allergies, underscoring Zyrtec's tangible benefits, especially when navigating high-pollen environments.
Zyrtec initiated its fan engagement at Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass during the Tour’s Florida swing. On-site activations included interactive experiences and "The Relief Club," which offered fans complimentary giveaways such as product samples, custom-monogrammed golf towels, and refreshments, all while educating them about the product's benefits.
Emphasizing the importance of allergy relief in a precision sport, Lovell stated that golf demands extreme accuracy, meaning even the slightest distraction – such as an itchy eye during a critical putt or a sneeze mid-swing – can completely derail performance. She concluded that it’s not merely about comfort; it's a competitive necessity for athletes.
Zyrtec plans to maintain its presence at additional events in 2026, including the RBC Heritage in April, the Truist Championship a month later, and the Tour Championship during the summer.
Dan Glod, Executive Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the PGA Tour, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. He welcomed Zyrtec into their marketing partner family as the Official Allergy Relief Sponsor of both the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, stating that they are thrilled to offer on-site relief at tournaments for players and fans as the golf season progresses into spring, when allergy season truly peaks.
