Gimenez: Milan Initiates Direct Talks with Porto, €20m Valuation Reported
Reports indicate that FC Porto has commenced direct discussions with AC Milan concerning the transfer of Mexican international striker Santiago Gimenez. The asking price for the player is reportedly set at a minimum of €20 million.
Gimenez is not currently part of coach Ruben Amorim's plans for the upcoming season and had limited playing time last term due to a significant ankle injury requiring surgery. His recovery and participation in the World Cup with Mexico have led to him remaining in Italy, absent from the team's pre-season tour of Australia.
Gimenez Expected to Leave Milan
According to MilanNews, the initial direct contact between Milan and Porto took place today to explore the terms of a potential transfer agreement.
Coach Francesco Farioli is said to be an admirer of Gimenez's form during his time at Feyenoord, prior to his €30.2 million transfer to San Siro in February 2025.
The proposed scenario involves Porto acquiring Gimenez on loan with an option to buy at the conclusion of the season. To avoid a financial loss on the transfer, Milan would need to secure a sale of at least €20 million.
An alternative possibility is a loan move to fellow Serie A club Lazio, though reaching an agreement among all parties is considered challenging under the current circumstances.
