Daniel Osvaldo in Stable Condition After Emergency Lung Surgery
The family of ex-striker Daniel Osvaldo states he is "doing well and is alert" following emergency surgery on Friday.
Osvaldo underwent an emergency procedure for a pleural effusion at a public hospital in Llavallol, Buenos Aires, and is currently in intensive care.
While his condition is described as "delicate," he is not considered to be in a life-threatening situation. Doctors have not yet determined the cause of the lung infection.
Osvaldo, who was born in Argentina, represented Italy internationally, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.
His career in Italy included spells at Atalanta, Lecce, Fiorentina, Bologna, Roma, Juventus, and Inter.
He also played for Southampton on loan, scoring three goals in 13 games during the 2013-14 season.
The 40-year-old retired in the summer of 2020 after a brief stint with Argentine club Banfield.
Following his playing career, Osvaldo publicly shared his struggles with depression and addictions in 2024.
