As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Canadian striker's recent goal against Chile for his national team extends a potent scoring run. This follows his success against Real Sociedad, Osasuna, and Real Madrid while playing for Atletico Madrid.
This level of consistency is unusual for David. While he's had streaks of three games with goals before, achieving four in a row has only happened twice previously: in February 2020 with Genk, where he netted seven goals across four games, and between September and October 2022 at Lille, scoring five.
Spalletti's Decision to Move David On
Luciano Spalletti, the Juventus coach, was a key figure in the decision to let David go. Despite months of trying, Spalletti never saw the response he wanted. He sought a traditional center-forward, but David's strengths leaned more towards a second striker role. Facing growing dissatisfaction, David departed at the end of the transfer window, contrary to his own desire to stay and improve on a difficult first season.
Juventus points to the benefits of the sale: they offloaded one of the team's highest salaries, comparable to Kenan Yildiz's post-renewal deal, and retained Nico Gonzalez, who has performed well since his return.
However, some supporters are uneasy, concerned about a repeat of the situations involving players like Gonzalez and Douglas Luiz. These players were seemingly deemed surplus after a single season, only to rediscover their best form elsewhere.
