Cristian Chivu believes Inter Milan’s accomplishment of winning both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia is something that “can never be taken for granted,” especially after their 2-0 victory against Lazio in the Final.
Following a season where Inter ended up without any silverware and felt dejected, Chivu took over from Simone Inzaghi and has led the team to a remarkable Double.
After already securing the Serie A title earlier this month, Inter convincingly defeated Lazio in the Coppa Italia Final at the Stadio Olimpico.
This marks Inter’s 10th Coppa Italia title, and it’s the first time they have paired it with the Scudetto since Jose Mourinho’s historic Treble, which included the Champions League in 2010. Chivu was a player in that squad and is now the coach.
Chivu’s Dream First Season at Inter
“Inter secured two trophies this season, and we earned them through a strong campaign,” Chivu stated to Sport Mediaset. “We are all delighted with what we have overcome in these past years, pleased for our supporters, and happy for the club that has consistently shown us its backing.”
Inter will have the opportunity to showcase both trophies during their open-top bus parade through Milan on Sunday. They will officially receive the Serie A cup after their match against Verona, in addition to the Coppa Italia.
“We have won the League and the Coppa Italia; these achievements are never guaranteed, so we are extremely happy.”
Inter had not won the Coppa Italia since 2023. This victory brings their total to 10 editions, placing them second only to Juventus, who have won 15 titles.
