English club Bournemouth is actively pursuing Lecce defender Tiago Gabriel and dispatched scouts on multiple occasions to observe his performances throughout the season.
The 21-year-old Portuguese international, who has earned six caps at the youth level for his country, played a crucial role in Lecce’s successful fight against relegation, securing their spot in the league on the final day.
Lecce acquired Gabriel from Estrela Amadora in January 2025 for an initial fee of €1.25 million, plus potential add-ons, continuing their strategy of investing in emerging talent under the guidance of sports director Pantaleo Corvino.
According to Sky Sport Italia’s transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Bournemouth is keen to bring the player to the Premier League. Their scouts have made numerous visits to the Stadio Via del Mare to evaluate him.
Gabriel, a central defender, contributed two goals in 37 Serie A appearances this season.
While his current contract with Lecce is set to expire in June 2027, the club holds an option to extend his contract by an additional two years.
Despite this, reports suggest that Bournemouth is hopeful of securing a loan deal for the defender, potentially including an option to purchase him permanently at the conclusion of the loan period.
Previously, Juventus and West Ham United had also expressed interest in the player in recent months.
