Bournemouth Could Replace Senesi with Bologna Defender Lucumi

Italian media reports indicate that Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi is a defender AFC Bournemouth is considering signing following the departure of Marcos Senesi, whose transfer to Tottenham Hotspur was officially confirmed on Wednesday.

Senesi, who was previously linked with a move to Juventus earlier this season, has departed Bournemouth after four years and joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer. This development leaves The Cherries in search of potential center-back signings during the current transfer window.

According to information from Nicolo Schira, Bournemouth has expressed interest in acquiring Colombian international Lucumi, who will celebrate his 28th birthday towards the end of this month.

Lucumi has a release clause in his contract valued at €28 million. It is understood that this clause is set to expire on July 10.

Sunderland had also made an attempt to bring Lucumi to the Premier League during the previous summer transfer window. They initially offered €25 million, later increasing their bid to €28 million plus a 10% sell-on clause. However, as the defender’s release clause had expired by that time, Bologna was not obligated to accept the offer, and the player ultimately remained at the Dall’Ara for the 2026-27 season.

Since joining Bologna from Genk in 2022, Lucumi has made 123 appearances in Serie A, including 29 matches in the most recent campaign.
