As Juventus intensifies its pursuit of Aston Villa’s Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer, reports suggest that the Premier League club is considering Parma’s Zion Suzuki as a potential replacement.
Recent reports indicate that Juventus has reached an agreement on personal terms with Martinez, the 2022 World Cup winner, whose contract with Aston Villa enters its final year this summer. Martinez is reportedly willing to accept a €5 million per season offer from Juventus. However, negotiations regarding the transfer fee are ongoing, as Aston Villa is expected to demand around €15 million for the 33-year-old, while Juventus hopes to acquire him at a much lower cost.
Villa Could Turn to Suzuki if Martinez Departs
According to Fabrizio Romano, if Martinez were to leave this summer, Aston Villa might target Parma’s Zion Suzuki. Romano reports that Villa has been monitoring the Japanese international for several months and that he is one of three goalkeepers currently being evaluated by the club.
The 23-year-old Suzuki has played 57 matches for Parma since joining from Urawa Red Diamonds in the summer of 2024. He had been performing well in Italy’s top flight before a broken hand sidelined him for 16 league games.
Calciomercato.com also reports that Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford is among the potential options for Aston Villa if Martinez ultimately joins Juventus.
