Tonali Transfer Update: Arsenal Reignites Interest, Man Utd Cool Pursuit

Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal has re-entered negotiations for Sandro Tonali in recent days. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s directors are of the opinion that the Italian midfielder is too expensive.

The Italian international Tonali is widely expected to depart Newcastle United this summer. Reports from Italian sources indicate that Newcastle has set his asking price at €115 million.

Arsenal Resumes Talks for Tonali

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest developments regarding the Italian midfielder. He confirms that, following reports from TMW, Arsenal has recently resumed discussions to sign the former Milan player.

The Gunners have made inquiries about Tonali’s availability through recent calls, as confirmed by Romano. Arsenal had previously expressed their interest during the January transfer window.

Tonali is also reportedly a target for Manchester City, although their current priority appears to be Elliot Anderson.

Manchester United had also been linked with a move for Tonali. However, according to Romano, the Red Devils have now scaled back their interest in the 26-year-old. This decision stems from their assessment that the overall expenditure, encompassing both transfer fee and salary, would be prohibitively high.

Manchester United has already secured midfield reinforcements for the upcoming season, with preparations underway to welcome Atalanta midfielder Ederson for a fee of €45 million, including add-ons.
