Francesco Pio Esposito stated that he always gives his maximum effort when representing the Italy national team, emphasizing that their recent matches were not treated as mere friendlies.
The Inter Milan forward recently scored two consecutive goals in matches against Luxembourg and Greece, securing two 1-0 victories for the Azzurri.

With these recent goals, Pio Esposito has now scored five goals in nine appearances for the Azzurri. This tally places him behind only Giuseppe Meazza in terms of goals scored for the national team before turning 21.
“I am pleased with my goal and this achievement, but that was not my primary thought before the game,” the striker told Rai Sport via TMW.
“What makes me truly happy is the win; we have a fantastic group here.
“We approached these two games with a winning mentality, not as friendlies.”
Following a missed penalty in the shootout against Bosnia and Herzegovina in March, Esposito was asked if he had put that disappointment behind him with his recent performances.
“I always commit my full effort when I wear this jersey. Missing a penalty can happen, but it’s important to look forward. I’m glad these last two games went well and I hope to continue this way,” he concluded.
Pio Esposito returned to Inter last summer after a two-season loan spell at Spezia in Serie B.
The 20-year-old had a productive 2025-26 season with the Nerazzurri, scoring ten goals and providing six assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
His current contract with Inter at the Stadio Meazza is set to expire in June 2030.
