Serie A: Torino 2-1 Sassuolo – Simeone Extends Home Scoring Streak

Torino managed to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sassuolo on Friday evening, extending their unbeaten streak at home to five matches. Despite Sassuolo taking the lead in the second half, Torino responded with two quick goals within four minutes to claim the win. Kristjan Thorstvedt, Giovanni Simeone, and Marcus Holmgren Pedersen were the goalscorers.

Coming off a 2-0 defeat against Udinese, Torino made two changes to their starting lineup. Andrea Pinamonti, Cristian Volpato, and Luca Lipani were brought back into the starting XI.

The first chance of the match fell to Pinamonti just two minutes in, but his shot was saved by Alberto Paleari. Torino’s first real attempt came around the 10-minute mark from Gvidas Gineitis, which Arijanet Muric managed to save. Alieu Njie came close to scoring when his header from a corner struck the crossbar twice, but the ball did not fully cross the line.

Sassuolo broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart. Following a blocked shot from Nemanja Matic, the ball fell to Luca Lipani, who delivered a cross from the right byline. Kristjan Thorstvedt was on hand to finish it off from close range.

Torino quickly found their equalizer fifteen minutes later. Enzo Ebosse delivered a precise cross from the left flank, and Giovanni Simeone met it with a powerful header that bounced into the corner of the net. This goal marked Simeone’s fifth consecutive home game in Serie A where he has found the back of the net.

The comeback was completed just four minutes later. Duvan Zapata crossed the ball from the left side of the penalty area, and Marcus Pedersen met it at the far post for his first Serie A goal in his 84th appearance.

This result moves Torino up one position to 12th in the Serie A standings, while Sassuolo remains in 10th place.
