Frosinone and Venezia Earn Serie A Promotion; Serie B Relegation and Play-offs Confirmed

The 2025-26 Serie B season has concluded, marking the return of Frosinone to Serie A for the 2026-27 campaign. Frosinone secured their second-place finish with a commanding 5-0 victory over Mantova on Friday night.

Venezia and Frosinone Achieve Serie A Return After One Season

Venezia had already secured their promotion the previous weekend with one round remaining and have now officially been crowned Serie B champions for 2025-26. Giovanni Stroppa’s team finished the season with a 2-0 home win against Palermo on Friday.

Joining Venezia in Serie A will be Frosinone, who ended the season with 81 points from 38 matches, just one point behind the champions.

Both Venezia and Frosinone were relegated from Serie A at the close of the 2024-25 season and have made an immediate return to the top flight.

The participants and structure for the Serie B play-offs have also been finalized.

Monza and Palermo, finishing in third and fourth place respectively, have automatically qualified for the play-off semi-finals.

Catanzaro, Modena, Juve Stabia, and Avellino, who finished in fifth through eighth place, will compete in the preliminary round of the play-offs.

The preliminary play-off matches are scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, with fifth-placed Catanzaro facing eighth-placed Avellino, and sixth-placed Modena playing seventh-placed Juve Stabia. These will be single-leg ties.

The play-off semi-finals will be contested over two legs, with first-leg matches on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17. The return legs will take place on May 19 and May 20. The play-off final will also be a two-legged affair, scheduled for Sunday, May 24, and Friday, May 29.

In a contrasting scenario at the bottom of the Serie B table, Pescara, Spezia, and Reggiana have been relegated. Bari and Sudtirol will face each other in the relegation play-out to determine the final relegated team.
