Former Juventus star Fabrizio Ravanelli has launched a scathing attack on current defender Lloyd Kelly, stating that the player is not worthy of wearing the Bianconeri jersey. Ravanelli, a prolific striker for Juventus between 1992 and 1996, during which he secured a Champions League title, UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, and Serie A Scudetto, expressed his strong disapproval during a recent live stream.
Speaking as a pundit, Ravanelli was unsparing in his assessment of Kelly, who has had a challenging season with the Turin club. “Lloyd Kelly is unworthy of Juventus,” Ravanelli declared. “He is tall and imposing but never contests aerial duels. I have never seen a center-back of 1.9 meters who doesn’t jump!”
The criticism extended to Kelly’s ball-playing ability. “Furthermore, he lacks impact,” the former forward continued. “When he has possession, he takes an eternity to decide on a pass. He simply cannot play for Juventus.”
Kelly’s move to Juventus has been widely considered an expensive disappointment since his significant €21 million transfer from Newcastle United in 2025. The initial move was a loan, but it included a mandatory purchase clause if certain conditions were met, with potential add-ons up to €6.5 million in bonuses.
This season, Kelly has made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists. However, his defensive contributions have often been inconsistent, leading to the severe criticism from Ravanelli.
