Cesc Fabregas, coach of Como, confirmed that their player Nico Paz was transported to the hospital due to a head injury sustained during the team’s 2-0 victory over Genoa. Fabregas noted that the player was experiencing significant visual disturbances, stating, “He couldn’t see properly.”
The Argentine international was a starter in the Serie A Week 34 fixture at Marassi and was reportedly playing exceptionally well.
However, Paz suffered a head clash with Genoa defender Alessandro Marcandalli in the first half. He subsequently went to the sidelines multiple times, informing medical staff that he had difficulty seeing clearly from one eye.
Nico Paz Experiences Visual Issues Following Head Injury
According to DAZN Italia reporters at the touchline, Nico Paz indicated that he was seeing a red tint when looking out of the side of one eye.
Considering these symptoms, Maxence Caqueret replaced him at halftime, and Paz was taken to a hospital in Genoa for further medical evaluation.
“Nico is doing better; he is in the hospital and is being assessed there,” coach Fabregas stated during a press conference. “He was having trouble seeing correctly. Regardless, it’s important for us to be able to find many different solutions from the team.”
Sky Sport Italia has since reported that Nico Paz has been released from the hospital after tests revealed no serious issues. He is now returning to Como with the rest of the squad.
This season, Nico Paz has contributed 13 goals and 8 assists in 38 competitive matches for Como.
Real Madrid holds a buy-back option for the 21-year-old player, valued at €9 million, and multiple reports suggest they plan to exercise this option.
