Napoli Legend Lavezzi Backs Allegri Appointment: ‘He Can Take Them Even Higher’

Ezequiel Lavezzi, a beloved figure in Napoli’s recent history, has voiced his endorsement for Massimiliano Allegri’s arrival as the club’s new coach. Lavezzi is confident that Allegri possesses the necessary qualities to further enhance a team that has already solidified its position as a dominant force in Italian football over the past two seasons.

Speaking ahead of the “Benito Stirpe Live The Dream” event, the former Napoli and Argentina striker shared his thoughts on the club’s decision to bring Allegri in as Antonio Conte’s successor.

Lavezzi’s opinion carries significant weight, given his successful tenure at Napoli from 2007 to 2012. During his time with the club, he netted 83 goals and became a fan favorite before his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Lavezzi Confident Allegri Can Build on Napoli’s Recent Title Success

“I believe Napoli is already in a winning cycle,” Lavezzi stated, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb. “They won the Scudetto last year and finished second this year. If they bring in Allegri, he will undoubtedly be able to elevate the team to an even higher level. He has a proven track record of winning championships, and I hope he can achieve that with Napoli too.”

These comments resonate with a general sense of optimism surrounding Allegri’s appointment at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Supporters are hopeful that the six-time Serie A champion can build upon the strong foundation laid by Conte during his two-year spell.

Allegri arrives with an impressive resume, including five consecutive Scudetti with Juventus from 2015 to 2019. He also has a point to prove after a challenging final season at Milan, which ended in Champions League disappointment.

Lavezzi also briefly commented on Argentina’s World Cup prospects, expressing measured confidence without making bold predictions. “I’m not sure if they are the favorites for this World Cup, but they are always Argentina, and there is great belief in the current national team,” he said.
