Fabio Grosso has officially left his position at Sassuolo after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. This development clears the way for the 2006 World Cup champion to be appointed as the new manager of Fiorentina, with confirmation expected shortly.
Sassuolo released a brief official statement confirming the agreement and expressing gratitude to Grosso and his coaching staff for their contributions over two seasons. During his tenure, the team achieved promotion to Serie A and secured an eleventh-place finish in the top flight this past season.
The Italian coach had previously indicated his desire to move on, and both parties have now formalized the separation.
Fiorentina Move Imminent: Grosso and Paratici to Reunite
Fiorentina has reportedly had an agreement in place with Grosso’s representatives for several weeks. The terms are understood to include a two-year contract valued at approximately €1.2 million per season, with an option for a third year.
The club was awaiting Grosso’s release from Sassuolo before officially announcing the appointment. With Grosso now free from his contractual obligations, sporting director Fabio Paratici is expected to finalize the deal without delay.
This appointment marks a reunion between Grosso and Paratici, who previously gave Grosso his first coaching role within Juventus’s youth academy. This move signifies the commencement of a new chapter for Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi, following a disappointing campaign under Stefano Pioli and Paolo Vanoli.
