Marcus Thuram and Nicolò Barella highlighted the unwavering camaraderie within the Inter squad as the driving force behind their ability to bounce back from a disappointing previous season and secure the Scudetto.
The Nerazzurri clinched their 21st Serie A title with a commanding performance against Parma at the San Siro. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring with a well-placed finish before halftime, set up by Piotr Zielinski, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed the victory with a second-half goal, assisted by Lautaro Martinez.
Thuram praised his teammate Barella, calling him “one of the best players in the world” and the “best Italian player,” emphasizing his leadership qualities and the strength found in the team’s unity, both on and off the pitch.
Following a season where Inter narrowly missed out on the Scudetto and suffered a significant Champions League final defeat, many questioned the team’s trajectory. However, under Cristian Chivu’s guidance, Inter has secured the league title with three games remaining, and they also have the Coppa Italia final on the horizon.
Barella acknowledged the joy of the achievement, stating that it was their primary objective. He reflected on the difficulties of the previous season, where they came close to winning multiple trophies but ended up with none. He stressed the importance of resilience in football and life, expressing gratitude to his teammates and staff for their support during tough times.
“This team never lost the desire to stay together,” Barella remarked. “We always gave everything we had, you can win or lose, but I am so proud of these lads.”
