Venezia Stick with Stroppa Despite Winless Serie A Start
Italian reports suggest Venezia will keep head coach Giovanni Stroppa. The team is the only one in Serie A without any points five matches into the 2026-27 season.
Venezia Backs Stroppa After Rocky Opening
Venezia has lost to Lecce, Milan, Frosinone, Fiorentina, and Lazio. A 2-1 Coppa Italia defeat against Udinese in the round of 32 also put promotion-winning coach Stroppa's job at risk.
However, Sky Sport Italia reported Tuesday evening that Venezia is backing Stroppa. He led the team to the Serie B title last season with 82 points.
Decision-makers reportedly considered Stroppa's position following the recent 2-0 loss to Lazio. They concluded Stroppa deserves more time to prove himself in Serie A.
His next matches are away games against Atalanta on October 12 and Napoli on October 17.
Two other Serie A coaches have already been dismissed this season. Fabio Grosso was fired by Fiorentina after three consecutive losses, and Bologna let go of Domenico Tedesco after he secured only one point in his first four league games.
