Spalletti on Juventus's win: 'Could have done more, pleased with Kolo Muani'
Luciano Spalletti is satisfied with Juventus’s overall performance against Atalanta on Sunday. He believes the team could have scored more than their two goals. He is also delighted with the display of striker Randal Kolo Muani.
Francisco Conceicao and Gleison Bremer scored the goals that secured a 2-0 home win for Juventus against Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta. This victory moves the club back to sixth place in the Serie A standings after five matches.
The result was particularly welcome for Juventus following their unexpected loss to Sassuolo last weekend. The team is also managing a number of key first-team injuries, including players like Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram, and Kenan Yildiz.
“As a coach, having your players available is invaluable,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia post-match. “We had to defend at times today. In the second half, we played on equal terms, but we missed opportunities to inflict more damage when space was available. That’s football. The defeat against Sassuolo brought some challenges and doubts.”
Kolo Muani delivered an encouraging display up front, despite still seeking his first Serie A goal since returning to the Allianz Stadium this summer. “He played very well. I was disappointed when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper because he deserved a goal. But he was happy in the end, and we joked about it. We’re all pleased because now we can get back some of our strong players, who would have been useful recently.”
