Lazio Reject Milan's First Bid for Gila, Demand €30 Million
AC Milan's attempt to sign defender Mario Gila has encountered an initial hurdle, as Lazio has turned down the Rossoneri's opening offer for the Spanish player.
Reports indicate that Lazio has rejected Milan's proposal and is firm on their valuation, seeking a minimum of €30 million for Gila. Milan had hoped to secure their second summer signing early this week, following the arrival of forward Gonçalo Ramos.
Gila, whose contract with Lazio extends until 2027, has previously communicated his intention not to renew his current deal. Milan has been actively working in recent days to reach a broad agreement with the player, outpacing interest from Napoli and Atalanta.
Real Madrid Buy-Back Clause Influences Lazio's Stance on Gila's Price
Lazio's insistence on a €30 million fee is largely due to a contractual obligation: they are required to pay Real Madrid 50% of any transfer fee received for Gila. This stipulation, a remnant of the agreement that brought Gila to Rome, significantly limits Lazio's flexibility in negotiating a lower price.
Consequently, a financial gap of approximately €5 million currently separates the two clubs' valuations. Milan will need to increase their offer to successfully acquire Gila, especially if they are keen on bringing him to the squad. Further discussions between the parties are anticipated in the upcoming hours.
While a framework for the transfer appears to be in place, including an agreement with the player and Lazio's willingness to sell, the clubs must bridge the remaining valuation gap.
