Inter Milan Dons Special Jersey Against Real Madrid to Comply with Spanish Law

Inter Milan is set to sport a distinctive jersey for their Champions League match against Real Madrid tonight, a change necessitated by Spanish legislation. The game is scheduled to commence at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid at 20:00 UK time (21:00 CEST).

While the Nerazzurri will maintain their iconic blue and black striped kit against Real Madrid's all-white, a notable alteration is evident on the jersey: the absence of their usual shirt sponsor.

Why Inter's Jersey is Different

This modification is due to the presence of Betsson.Sport as Inter's main sponsor since 2024. Spanish law, similar to regulations in Italy, prohibits sponsorship from betting companies in football. Interestingly, Inter was previously permitted to display their Betsson.Sport logo during a match against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano in November 2025. However, a subsequent legal appeal has removed the distinction between betting and sports infotainment, making such sponsorships impermissible.

This situation is not unique, as FC Kobenhavn also had to remove their Unibet sponsorship logo when they played against Villarreal and Barcelona.
