David de Gea's Reaction to Man City Charges: 'How Many League Titles Have I Won?'
David de Gea, formerly of Manchester United and now with Fiorentina, has reacted to Manchester City's guilty verdict on financial charges by posing a question about his own trophy collection.
The goalkeeper posted on X (formerly Twitter) after the ruling: “So…… Let’s talk. How many Premier League titles have I won then? 🤔”
Manchester City reportedly face 114 of 115 charges for allegedly breaching Premier League financial regulations. Potential sanctions range from fines and reprimands to points deductions, which could be applied retrospectively. This raises the possibility of City losing titles won during the 2009-2018 period, a time when De Gea served as United’s keeper.
During that period, City secured three Premier League titles. In two of those seasons, Manchester United finished as runners-up. De Gea currently holds one Premier League medal from the 2012-13 season. If City were to be stripped of titles and they were reallocated, his personal tally could increase.
Manchester City is expected to appeal the charges, and no official sanctions have been determined.
