Fabio Grosso Targeted by Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio, and Bologna

Fabio Grosso’s successful tenure as Sassuolo’s coach has sparked interest from multiple clubs, with Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio, and Bologna reportedly considering him as a potential candidate.

While the 48-year-old is widely remembered for his pivotal role in Italy’s 2006 World Cup victory during his playing days, he has since established a strong reputation as a coach after retiring from playing in 2012.

Grosso’s coaching career has seen him work with the Juventus youth academy and subsequently hold positions at Bari, Verona, Brescia, SC Sion, Frosinone, and Olympique Lyonnais.

Sassuolo Thrives Under Grosso’s Guidance

Upon returning to Italy to manage Sassuolo in 2024, Grosso led the team to promotion from Serie B with five games remaining in the season. This current season, he has guided them to a comfortable mid-table position.

According to reports from Sport Mediaset, Grosso’s achievements have placed him on the radar of numerous Serie A clubs. Fiorentina is considered a leading contender, particularly given his previous association with director Fabio Paratici during his time at Juventus.

Fiorentina appears to be the frontrunner, especially as current coach Paolo Vanoli is not expected to continue with the club after successfully steering them away from relegation.

Other clubs expressing interest include Bologna, should Vincenzo Italiano depart. Even Napoli and Lazio have reportedly considered Grosso as an alternative, depending on the future decisions of their current managers, Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, respectively.

As a newly promoted team, Sassuolo has achieved 14 wins, 7 draws, and 14 defeats in Serie A this season under Grosso’s leadership.
