Bartesaghi’s Milan Dream and Rafael Leao’s Surprise Gift

Davide Bartesaghi has expressed his deepest desire to remain at AC Milan for as long as his career allows, calling it his “dream.” He also shared a surprising anecdote about a gift he received from his teammate, Rafael Leao. Bartesaghi, who has been with the Rossoneri for his entire career and has become a consistent presence in the senior squad this season, has made 30 competitive appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Speaking on the Off The Pitch podcast with club legend Serginho, the 20-year-old left-back reflected on his journey. “It was a different Milan when you were there, so many champions and a different atmosphere. I started watching Milan play a little later than that,” he confessed, indicating his deep connection to the club’s history.

Having recently signed a contract extension until June 2030, Bartesaghi harbors aspirations of emulating club icons like Paolo Maldini and becoming a one-club player. “It is my dream to stay at Milan for as long as possible, this is a magnificent club. I have a passion for Milan, the history speaks for itself,” he stated with conviction.

Bartesaghi played a key role in Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana triumph last season, a victory he described as “totally unexpected” but one where the team maintained their belief. This was his first professional trophy, a “moment I will never forget.” The transition from the youth team to the senior squad was an “indescribable” dream come true, and he recognizes the need for continuous improvement. He also expressed a hope that more young players can experience similar success in the future.

Despite the team’s recent inconsistent form, Bartesaghi insists that the dressing room atmosphere remains positive. He emphasized the importance of respecting and learning from senior players while also having the confidence to voice opinions. “We must always be respectful for the older players, be eager to listen and learn, but also have your say, not just stay silent,” he advised.

The young defender also recounted a heartwarming gesture from Rafael Leao. Following his first brace in Serie A against Sassuolo, Leao not only congratulated him but also presented him with a large framed photograph of his goal celebration the following day. Bartesaghi also shared his insights on teammates, naming Alexis Saelemaekers as the funniest and Mike Maignan as the most serious. He identified Sergio Conceicao as his most severe coach, while citing Allegri and Pioli as his favorites.
