Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic commented on reaching the Beijing tournament final after Russian Daniil Medvedev's disqualification.
Medvedev was removed from the semi-final match, with Djokovic leading 7-5, 5-3, after hitting a spectator with a ball.
"Honestly, I was shocked. I hope the person wasn't badly hurt. On the other hand, I feel for Daniil too, because I know exactly what it's like to be disqualified in an important match. I'm sure Daniil didn't mean to do it intentionally," Reuters quoted the Serb.
In 2020, Djokovic was disqualified from a US Open fourth-round match under similar circumstances after hitting a line judge with a ball.
The Serb will compete for the title at the Beijing '500' event against Australia's Alex de Minaur.
