Napoli will host Cremonese this evening with the aim of delaying Inter’s title celebrations and solidifying their own position in the top four.
Antonio Conte’s team currently sits third in Serie A, trailing only Milan on head-to-head records. A victory tonight would temporarily move last season’s champions into second place, though they would still be nine points behind league leaders Inter, making a late title charge seem improbable.
Despite the challenge, Conte will be expecting a straightforward three points against a Cremonese side that is just above the relegation zone, in 17th place.
Cremonese began the season strongly under manager Davide Nicola, but a significant downturn in form has left them struggling. With relegation rivals Lecce facing a virtually relegated Verona, a defeat tonight could see Marco Giampaolo’s team drop into the bottom three by the end of the weekend.
