According to reports, AS Roma is eyeing Antonio Nusa from RB Leipzig, Crysencio Summerville of West Ham, and Mason Greenwood from Olympique Marseille as potential new recruits.
This summer, the club has opted to move away from the guidance of advisor Claudio Ranieri and sporting director Frederic Massara to fully embrace the strategic direction of coach Gian Piero Gasperini. This signifies a shift towards acquiring players specifically requested by Gasperini, prioritizing those whose playing styles align with his tactical approach, reminiscent of his tenure with Atalanta.
Roma’s Reinforcement Targets
La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that the primary focus is on Nusa. Roma had previously shown interest last summer and again in January, but the €60 million asking price was prohibitive. It’s understood that this valuation has now decreased by approximately €10 million, potentially making the 21-year-old Norwegian international accessible, especially if Matias Soulé were to be sold.
Other clubs, including Liverpool and Milan, have also been linked with Nusa, who has recorded five goals and four assists in 35 competitive matches this season.
Roma is also in the market for other wingers and is actively seeking value opportunities. Crysencio Summerville could become an affordable option if West Ham United faces relegation from the Premier League. The 24-year-old winger, who can operate on either flank, has contributed seven goals and four assists in 33 appearances for the Hammers this season.
Roma is hopeful that Summerville’s shared agency with January signing Donyell Malen might provide an advantage in negotiations.
Mason Greenwood is considered a more costly acquisition. He was previously linked with Serie A clubs before his move to Olympique Marseille. While a return to the Premier League seems unlikely due to past off-field issues, the 24-year-old has impressed on the pitch, scoring 26 goals and providing 11 assists in 45 games this term. He is currently in a complex situation at Marseille, and his playing style has long been admired by Roma coach Gasperini.
