The highly anticipated 2026 OFX Irish Legends golf tournament has officially launched, with Carton House in County Kildare, Ireland, serving as the prestigious venue. Scheduled to take place from July 9th to 12th on the challenging Montgomerie Course, this event is a highlight of the Staysure Legends Tour. The tour showcases over 50 of golf’s most celebrated players, including icons like Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Ian Woosnam, and Michael Campbell.
Carton House, situated west of Dublin, is an expansive 1,100-acre parkland resort boasting two distinct golf courses. One course is a creation of Mark O’Meara, while the other, designed by Montgomerie, is recognized for its demanding layout featuring significant pot bunkers and narrow fairways.
Paul McGinley commented on the course’s difficulty, stating, “It requires good iron play, and you can get what you need out of the course. It’s a tough golf course and it will produce a really good winner.” He further expressed his excitement about the venue, adding, “Carton House is an incredible venue with so much history. All the great Irish players have passed through here whilst on the Golf Ireland programs. It’s a ‘full circle’ moment coming back to play here.”
Attendance at the event is free of charge. Tickets can be secured by registering on the Staysure Legends Tour website.
Previous winners of the OFX Irish Legends include James Kingston, Adilson da Silva, and Peter Baker. This year, Paul McGinley will be vying to become the first Irish champion to win the tournament on home turf.
As part of the Staysure Legends Tour, the tournament will once again offer exclusive “Playing Experiences.” These provide amateur golfers with the unparalleled opportunity to compete alongside some of the game’s legendary figures, offering an intimate viewing experience and a chance for everyday golfers to play with golfing greats.
Tim Mullen, managing partner of Belmullet Hospitality Group, the owners of Carton House, highlighted the positive impact of hosting such events. “We saw the success of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open here in 2024 and 2025, and it put us on a global stage,” Mullen remarked. “The Legends event will do the same for us.”
