Italian reports indicate that Inter Milan has secured a basic agreement with Tottenham and Italy goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. However, the club still faces two significant hurdles before securing the 29-year-old for San Siro.
Throughout the 2025-26 season, Inter has been linked with a potential move for Vicario from Tottenham at the conclusion of the season. The current Inter goalkeeper, 37-year-old Yann Sommer, is set to be out of contract at the end of June and is not expected to extend his stay.
According to the latest information from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter and Vicario’s representatives have reached a preliminary agreement regarding the contract duration and future salary. While specific financial details have not been disclosed, the report states that the understanding between Inter’s camp and Vicario’s entourage is “complete.”

Nevertheless, Inter must resolve two crucial issues before Vicario can join the club. The first is negotiating a transfer fee with Tottenham. Recent reports from the Italian press have suggested figures between €15 million and €20 million. It is understood that Tottenham’s willingness to sell Vicario could increase if they face relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. Spurs are currently in the relegation zone, trailing safety by two points with four games remaining.
The second obstacle for Inter is deciding the future of Josep Martinez. Martinez has largely served as understudy to the veteran Sommer over the past two seasons.

Martinez has shown promise during his limited opportunities, which presents both an advantage and a challenge for Inter. The club is reportedly aware of the Spaniard’s potential, and he is also cognizant of it. At 27 years old, Martinez is reportedly eager to secure first-team playing time next season, whether that be with Inter or elsewhere.
