Manchester City forward Erling Haaland drew some attention with his post-match comments following his team’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.
This win reduced Manchester City’s deficit at the top of the Premier League to three points, with Pep Guardiola’s side still having a game in hand.
City initially took the lead with an early goal from Cherki. However, a mistake by Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed Kai Havertz to equalize shortly after.
Despite a strong performance from Arsenal, the Norwegian striker extended his goal tally in the second half, just after the Gunners had struck the woodwork.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the match alongside his teammate Bernardo Silva, Haaland was asked to describe the midfielder’s performance.
When recalling a header won by the Portuguese international against Swedish forward Victor Gyokeres, Haaland exclaimed that Silva was “like f*cking Cannavaro” – a clear reference to the iconic Italian defender and Ballon d’Or recipient.
Sky Sports had to issue an apology for Haaland’s language, and the comment has, understandably, been censored in all subsequent public releases.
