Walt Disney Golf has introduced a new statue of Grumpy, the beloved character from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” This iconic figure now graces the entrance to the recently redesigned four holes at Disney’s Magnolia golf course, a challenging stretch aptly nicknamed “Grumpy’s Gauntlet.”
The Grumpy statue stands near the tee box of the 14th hole, heralding the start of this formidable sequence which includes holes 15, 16, and 17. This finishing stretch is designed to present a demanding yet enjoyable test for golfers of all skill levels.
Adding a charming detail, Grumpy’s golf bag features a seven-iron, a nod to all seven dwarfs. A replicated golf ball is also included, complete with the dimple pattern characteristic of 1937, the year the classic film was released.
Crafted from Carrara marble by Walt Disney Imagineering, utilizing an AI-powered stone-carving robot, the statue stands approximately six feet tall. It captures Grumpy’s signature scowl atop a rock and features his memorable movie line: “Mark my words, there’s trouble a-brewin’!” This distinctive landmark is poised to become a popular spot for memorable photographs.
In conjunction with the new statue, “Grumpy’s Gauntlet” themed merchandise is now available at the Magnolia pro shop. The collection includes branded apparel such as shirts and hats, along with various other golf accessories and collectibles.
The Grumpy statue and merchandise are part of a broader initiative to enhance the golf course, which boasts a storied past and has hosted many renowned professional golfers. These additions further weave the enchanting Disney narrative throughout the course.
Managed by Arnold Palmer Golf Management since 2011, Walt Disney World Golf has been recognized by the National Golf Course Owners Association as the 2026 Resort Course of the Year, with Disney’s Magnolia golf course being a featured highlight.
Nearby, Disney’s Palm Golf Course offers a slightly shorter, yet equally strategic golfing experience. For those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course provides a scenic layout that has also been a venue for significant events. This course is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to reopen later this year, though its pro shop remains open daily.
For a quicker round or for those looking to hone their skills, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course is an excellent choice. This 9-hole, walking-only course is ideal for faster games and is also a part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife.
Oak Trail also offers FootGolf on select afternoons, a fun hybrid sport combining soccer and golf played with oversized holes. This casual yet competitive activity is particularly enjoyable for groups.
A unique attraction for all guests is “The Greatest Green Ever Played,” an 18-hole putting course launched in 2024. This putting paradise pays tribute to amateur golfer Francis Ouimet’s historic 1913 U.S. Open victory, as depicted in the Walt Disney Pictures film “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (2005).
While golf might not be the first activity that comes to mind in a destination built on imagination, for those who play here, it becomes evident that the magic extends to the fairways and greens, earning it the affectionate nickname “The Happiest Place on Turf!”
