Fabio Grosso revealed his deep emotion following Sassuolo’s commanding 2-1 triumph over Como in Serie A, a performance he hailed as a ‘masterpiece’. The Sassuolo manager conveyed his immense pride in his players’ efforts and their ongoing commitment, stating, “I’m proud of these guys, of what they have done and of what they will continue to do.”
Sassuolo secured the crucial three points thanks to rapid first-half goals from Cristian Volpato and M’Bala Nzola. Although Nico Paz managed to pull one back for Como just before the halftime whistle, Sassuolo held firm to claim the victory.

“I told the boys that they made me emotional today, they put together a masterpiece. Playing this game against this opponent shouldn’t have been taken for granted, but instead we did really well,” Grosso shared in his post-match interview with DAZN.
“We chose the right moments in the game to do the right things, so well done to the boys. It’s been an amazing year; now we have to recover and recharge. We will find other teams difficult to face and will come up against teams that put in performances of the highest level.”
When asked about the contributions of goalscorers Cristian Volpato and M’Bala Nzola, Grosso responded enthusiastically: “Very happy. It’s a group that trains well; it’s right to praise them for being protagonists. I’m happy with the people who work for me; together, we always try to do our best. We’re doing amazing things; we want to continue, knowing that we’re facing very good opponents.”
Addressing Cristian Volpato’s best position, Grosso commented on the player’s significant potential: “I talk to him a lot; for me, he has impressive potential. I believe in him; he has really great qualities. Every now and then, he slows down a bit, but he puts in a lot of good will. If he understands that certain things can change, he can affect games at very high levels.”
With this win, Sassuolo is now just five points shy of reaching a remarkable 50-point milestone in the final five games of the season.
“We’ve done a lot, quickly and unexpectedly. It wasn’t an easy start, but then we got back on track. We’ve done amazing things, getting through a few scuffles, but maintaining our identity. I’m very proud of these guys, of what they have done and of what they will continue to do.”
