According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mason Greenwood is amenable to joining Roma from Marseille this summer. The English winger is being eyed as a potential successor to Matias Soulé, who has reportedly received an offer from Aston Villa.
Roma are planning a significant overhaul of their attacking department for the upcoming summer transfer window, with Greenwood identified as their primary target. Reports on Wednesday indicated that Roma had initiated contact with the player’s representatives, and Gazzetta now suggests a positive response, with Greenwood open to a transfer to the Stadio Olimpico.
The primary obstacle for Roma, as confirmed by Gazzetta, remains Marseille’s valuation of the player, which is said to be around €50 million. Greenwood is currently under contract with Marseille until 2029.
In addition to Stephan El Shaarawy’s impending departure at the end of his contract in June, Roma could also see Matias Soulé leave the club. Aston Villa have shown interest in the Argentine winger.
Gazzetta reports that Aston Villa have already submitted an offer for Soulé, but it falls short of Roma’s asking price, which is estimated to be between €35-40 million.
