Gatti’s Goal: A Turning Point for Juventus and Roma in the Champions League Race

Juventus has been on an impressive unbeaten streak in their last six Serie A matches. The crucial moment that seemed to ignite this resurgence for both Juventus and their rivals Roma occurred in March, during a thrilling 3-3 draw where Federico Gatti scored a late equalizer.

Under Luciano Spalletti, Juventus has seen a notable climb in the league standings. They currently occupy fourth place, holding a two-point advantage over Como and trailing third-placed Milan by only three points.

Gatti’s Goal Sparked Juventus’ Comeback

According to Gazzetta, the Bianconeri’s unbeaten run commenced on February 25th, following a 3-2 victory over Galatasaray. While this win wasn’t sufficient for Champions League Round of 16 qualification, it signaled a change in fortunes for Juventus in Serie A. Prior to this victory, Spalletti’s squad had experienced a difficult period with four losses and one draw across all competitions.

Just a few days after their triumph against Galatasaray, Juventus demonstrated resilience by coming back from a two-goal deficit against Roma, ultimately securing a 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico. The late equalizer, scored by Italian international Federico Gatti, proved to be the catalyst for their subsequent fightback.

Since that pivotal match, Juventus has accumulated 13 points, with four wins and one draw. In the last four rounds of fixtures, Juventus has gained seven more points than Milan, three more than Como, and four more than Roma.

With only six games remaining in the season, Juventus holds its destiny in its own hands, despite facing a challenging schedule. Upcoming fixtures include home matches against Bologna and Fiorentina, an away game against Milan, and the season finale against city rivals Torino.

In the event of a points tie with Roma, Juventus would finish ahead due to a superior head-to-head record. However, they would require one more point than Como, as the latter has secured victories in both of their encounters against Juve this season.
