Valdepenas Thrilled by Fiorentina Transfer: 'Super Happy to Be Here'

Fiorentina has secured the signing of defender Victor Valdepenas from Real Madrid. While the details of the agreement suggest Real Madrid may retain a 50% share of any future transfer fee, Valdepenas himself is enthusiastic about his new chapter.

The transfer agreement was finalized some weeks ago, but Jose Mourinho had requested Valdepenas remain with Real Madrid during their pre-season preparations until other international players returned from their holidays.

Valdepenas, who will turn 20 in October, was a key member of the Spain squad that triumphed in the European Under-19 Championship this summer.

Reports indicate that Fiorentina acquired Valdepenas for a fee of €8 million. However, Real Madrid is said to have retained a 50% stake in his future sale value.

Valdepenas Eager for Fiorentina Opportunity

Speaking to the official club website, Valdepenas expressed his delight: “I am very happy to be here, it’s an incredible place, the training ground is remarkable, and it’s a beautiful city.”

He further elaborated on his excitement, stating, “I am super happy to be here. From 1 to 10, how excited am I? I’d say 20! I haven’t had time to visit the city properly yet, but I’ve been told wonderful things about it, and I can’t wait to see it.”

When asked what influenced his decision to join Fiorentina after his time at Real Madrid, the young defender cited the positive experiences of players he consulted.

“The experiences of the players I spoke to who were here. It is a club with a great history, which I am aware of, even if I am young. The advice and experience of the players I talked to really convinced me to come here,” he explained.

“I talked to Borja Valero, who is certainly the one I knew most from the past here.”

Valdepenas confirmed his versatility, noting that he can play as a left-back or a central defender, though he expressed a preference for playing on the left flank.

“I am an aggressive defender, good technically and tactically, as well as my pace. I’m really excited and emotional to be here, I can’t wait to see all the fans in the stadium,” he concluded.
