Simone Inzaghi Denies Serie A and Italy Return Rumors, Confirms Stay at Al-Hilal
Simone Inzaghi has dismissed rumors linking him to a return to Italian football, including the vacant Italy national team position and other Serie A roles. The former Inter coach has affirmed his commitment to his current role at Saudi club Al-Hilal, despite their recent elimination from the Asian Champions League on penalties against Roberto Mancini's Al-Sadd.
When questioned about his future, Inzaghi was clear. "I am staying at Al-Hilal because I am doing my job to the best of my abilities and I am giving everything of myself," he stated, as reported by FCInter1908.
The defeat to Al-Sadd, particularly in its circumstances, was a significant blow. Inzaghi believed his team was the superior side on the night, having taken the lead three times only to be equalized each time before ultimately losing the penalty shootout.
"I was aiming to reach the quarter-finals but fortune was not on our side," Inzaghi commented. "We tried with all our strength and created several chances. Al-Sadd held firm and scored three goals, but Al-Hilal were the stronger team and took the lead three times."
This result may intensify the pressure on Inzaghi at Al-Hilal, a club with exceptionally high expectations. However, his firm declaration of commitment suggests he does not intend to use this setback as a reason to leave, at least for the time being.
