Serie A Official Line-ups: Fiorentina vs. Lazio
Fiorentina has the chance to extend their lead over the relegation zone to eight points. However, their injury concerns are mounting as Lazio welcomes back Mattia Zaccagni and Patric.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:45 UK time (20:45 CEST) at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
With other teams in the relegation battle experiencing negative results, a victory for Fiorentina would propel them to 15th place in the league standings, creating a crucial eight-point buffer from the bottom three.
Despite the potential for a significant boost in league position, Fiorentina's squad is stretched thin due to their involvement in the Conference League. They suffered a 3-0 defeat in the first leg of their quarter-final against Crystal Palace on Thursday night.
The return leg of the Conference League tie is this week, and Fiorentina continues to be without key players including Moise Kean, Fabiano Parisi, Marco Brescianini, Niccolò Fortini, Luca Lezzerini, and Tariq Lamptey due to injuries.
Adding to their challenges, Paolo Vanoli will also have to contend with the absence of the suspended Albert Gudmundsson and Nicolò Fagioli. Manor Solomon and Rolando Mandragora are also not at full fitness.
Consequently, Roberto Piccoli is expected to lead the attack once more, supported by Cher Ndour in midfield, with Jacopo Fazzini and Jack Harrison providing attacking options.
Lazio, prior to their recent 1-1 draw with Parma, had secured three consecutive victories. They are aiming to narrow the gap with Bologna, who currently sit in eighth place.
Maurizio Sarri is also facing selection issues, with Daniel Maldini and Adam Marusic being the latest additions to an already extensive injury list that includes Ivan Provedel, Mario Gila, Samuel Gigot, and Nicolò Rovella.
Notably, Zaccagni, Toma Basic, and Patric are making immediate returns to the starting eleven following their recovery from injuries. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is available on the bench.
Matteo Cancellieri has been chosen to start ahead of Gustav Isaksen in the attacking lineup.
