Serie A: Como Crushes Pisa 5-0, Extends Champions League Lead Over Juventus

Como reinforced their position in the Champions League qualification spots, creating a three-point gap over Juventus heading into the international break. Under Cesc Fabregas, the team secured a resounding 5-0 win against Pisa in Serie A on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of goals from Assane Diao, Anastasios Douvikas, Martin Baturina, Nico Paz, and Maxi Perrone.

Entering the match with impressive form, Como boasted a four-game winning streak in Serie A and a six-game unbeaten run across all competitions. The attacking lineup saw the return of Diao, Jesus Rodriguez, and Douvikas alongside Nico Paz. Pisa, despite securing only their second win of the season last weekend, also opted for several personnel changes.

The early stages of the game saw both teams making dangerous errors in possession. However, it was Pisa who paid the price for Stefano Moreo's slip. Assane Diao capitalized on the mistake in the seventh minute, seizing the ball, racing towards goal, shifting it to his left foot, and slotting it past goalkeeper Nicolas to open the scoring.

The Senegalese international was instrumental again just before the half-hour mark, setting up Douvikas for Como's second. Diao cut in from the right flank, moved onto his left foot, and delivered a precise ball into the box, which Douvikas met with an instinctive first-touch finish, doubling his side's advantage.

Como continued their offensive surge, adding a third goal within three minutes of the second half. Martin Baturina, who had replaced the injured Jesus Rodriguez earlier, found the bottom corner of the net with a smart, low finish from the edge of the penalty area. This marked his sixth goal of the season, with five of those coming in 2026.

Pisa did manage to create some opportunities, having two strikes disallowed in the second half. Substitute Filip Stojilkovic had a goal ruled out for offside, and shortly after, his dummy while in an offside position led to Henrik Meister's subsequent effort also being chalked off.

Nico Paz then netted his first goal at the Stadio Sinigaglia since October, converting Alberto Moreno’s cross from the left-hand side of the penalty area to make it 4-0. The rout was completed in the 81st minute when substitute Nicolas Kuhn dribbled to the right byline and delivered a perfect cut-back for Maxi Perrone to tap home from close range in the six-yard box.
