Rafael Leao's Milan Future Uncertain Amidst Turkish Interest

August 3, 2026Pablo Navarro2 мин

There's a growing sentiment from Italian media that AC Milan winger Rafael Leao might remain with the Rossoneri for the 2026-27 season. Neither Turkish clubs Galatasaray nor Fenerbahce have successfully concluded a deal for the Portuguese international.

Could Leao Decide to Stay at Milan?

AC Milan has been actively seeking to sell Leao this summer. The 26-year-old, who has spent seven seasons at San Siro, has publicly expressed his feeling that it's the right time to pursue a new challenge and move on.

However, as of now, Milan has struggled to find a buyer that meets both the club's and the player's financial expectations. Leao has previously voiced his ambition to play in the Premier League or La Liga. So far, the most concrete interest has emerged from Turkey, with both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce engaging in discussions regarding a potential transfer.

Recent reports indicated that Fenerbahce was preparing an improved offer, reportedly nearing €50 million. However, according to TMW, the player remains unconvinced by these proposals, and Milan is unwilling to consider offers below their €50 million valuation.

The Rossoneri are firm on their stance: they will only sanction an outright sale this summer, with a minimum price of €50 million, and initial asking prices starting at €60 million.

With less than a month remaining in the summer transfer window and limited progress in finding a buyer for Leao, there's an increasing likelihood that the player will stay at Milan for the 2026-27 campaign. Milannews.it suggests this is still the least probable outcome, but it's a possibility that "cannot be ruled out."

Calciomercato also reports that Milan is still hopeful of selling Leao this summer, but acknowledges the potential for no suitable solution being found, leading to the player staying with the club for another season.

TMW further speculates that the presence of compatriot Ruben Amorim as Milan's manager could also play a significant role in Leao's potential decision to continue his career at San Siro for another season.
