Jorginho Claims Chappell Roan's Security Reduced Daughter to Tears in Hotel Incident
Italy international Jorginho has publicly criticized pop singer Chappell Roan and her security team, alleging that his 11-year-old daughter was left in tears after an aggressive encounter at a hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The incident reportedly occurred while Jorginho's family and the "Pink Pony Club" singer were having breakfast at the same hotel. According to the former Napoli and Verona midfielder, his daughter merely smiled at Roan as she passed her table.
Jorginho's Account: An 'Extremely Aggressive' Confrontation
Jorginho shared his frustration on social media, describing the subsequent events as "completely disproportionate." He stated that a large security guard approached his wife, Catherine Harding, and daughter at their table, speaking "in an extremely aggressive manner." The guard allegedly accused the daughter of "disrespecting" or "harassing" Roan and threatened to file a complaint with the hotel.
"My 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot," Jorginho wrote. He emphasized his understanding of respect and boundaries, asserting that his daughter's action was simply "a child admiring someone."
The football star concluded his post with a strong message directed at Roan: "It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this... WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”
Chappell Roan Responds: Denies Direct Involvement
Chappell Roan later addressed Jorginho's claims, expressing sadness for the mother and child, stating they "didn’t deserve" such an experience. However, she clarified that the incident did not involve her personal security team and she did not request the guard to intervene.
“I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel…I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child,” Roan explained. She added, "They did not come up to me. They weren’t doing anything. It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe that, because there is no action taken."
Roan also refuted any suggestion of disliking her fans or children, calling such an idea "crazy." She concluded by reiterating her sympathy: "I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you were doing something. If you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."
