Gianluigi Donnarumma's Emotional Plea After Italy's Third Consecutive World Cup Qualification Failure

Italy's national team captain, Gianluigi Donnarumma, has candidly expressed his profound sorrow following their recent World Cup playoff defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina, revealing he "cried" after the match. Despite the heartbreak of failing to qualify for the global tournament for an unprecedented third consecutive time, Donnarumma called upon supporters to maintain their "strength, passion, and belief" in the team.

While Leonardo Spinazzola addressed the media post-match, captain Gianluigi Donnarumma conveyed his sentiments directly to fans through an Instagram message on Wednesday. He openly admitted, "Last night, after the match, I cried. I cried with disappointment at not being able to take Italy to where it deserves to be. I cried because of the immense sadness I’m feeling together with the entire Azzurri squad of which I am proud to be captain, and which, I know, at this moment, you too are feeling, supporters of our national team."

Acknowledging that "words don’t mean much" in such a moment, Donnarumma emphasized a deep conviction: "After such a great disappointment, we must find the courage to turn the page once again.
